Orccha

Ancient temples on the banks of river Betwa

The temples of Orchha were built on the early 1600s. This region of Bundelkhand prospered during the time of Mughal ruler Jahangir. At the time, during the bhakti movement, the raja Ram temple came into existence. People believe that Lord Ram gave darshan to Ganesh Kuvari (then wife of the ruler) in the child form and demanded to rule Orchha as a king. So, here people worship Lord Ram as a ruler. The temples and buildings are reminiscent of a glorious past for this region. These picture were taken in Dec 2020.
